It's another wonderful Saturday here at the fine Regional Medical Center..... We had a few cases scheduled for today but half of them have cancelled already...... and that's OK with me... I think it was a bit past midnight when I went to bed last night because I got hooked on playing Rock Band again. I had finished the game on medium a while back, and started it on hard, but I got stuck on a Nine Inch Nails song, and hadn't really tried again.... So last night I stuck with it, and I think I only have 2 more sets left on hard!!! Now, my scores are nothing to be proud of, mostly 3 stars on all of them.... but I got through it on hard!!!! That's awesome for me!!!! I even got brave and tried a song on expert. It was Should I Stay or Should I Go.... I got through 96% of it and then got booed off.... I gotta practice more!!!
This morning I got an early wake up call from the hospital because the tech that was on call wasn't answering her phone and they had a c-section that needed to be done... So they called me since I was scheduled to work today.... By the time I got here, the tech had shown up and they were just finishing the surgery. I don't want to be a nag but this tech has a reputation for not answering her phone when she is on call!!! That is so unacceptable and yet she still has a job here, I'll never understand....I just work here!!!! Anyway, I told her to leave because I was told to take over..... and happily she did!!!
Today has been a bit different. One of the nurses called off and the other tech didn't call or show up. So it's just me and Neil battling the OR!!!! We've done one case already and are waiting for our next surgeon to show up. He was supposed to be here by 1045 but had an emergency case at a different hospital so we have to wait for him.... So here we are!!!
I can't wait to go home today.... Mark, Noah, Obi and I are going to take a walk around town and maybe even stop at Jamba Juice and have a smoothie. I bought these yummy Udon noodles the other day at the store so I'm looking forward to making dinner tonight. Beef Udon noodle soup with fresh veggies in it... Sounds so good on a cold day like today. Other than that, we don't really have anything planned for today. Just resting up for Noah's party tomorrow.
We've never been to this place that we are having it at, but from the pictures and the sounds of it, it should be a great time! You know me, I'll have my camera glued to me like always!!!! Noah picked out his own cake this year, it's SpongeBob..... There's no real theme to this party so it's like a big mash up of whatever!!!! Hahahaha... too funny....
This week was really mellow at work. Not a lot going on, but I think it's just the calm before the storm... Our surgery schedule is getting fuller and fuller at the surgery center. You know what that means???? Less computer time, just kidding!!! Actually it is a great thing!!! The busier we are, the more revenue we are bringing in!!! And that is always a good thing at a private surgery center!!
The last two weeks, I have been going with a couple of docs from my work to a place called FastLap on Wed. nights...... It's an indoor Go Kart racing place!!!!! This is sooo much fun!!! I think Mark and I are going to get memberships!!!! He hasn't gone with me yet, but I think my excitement for the whole thing was more than enough to get him fired up about going too. I took Noah with me this last Wed. so he could watch us and see if it was something he would like to try, but in his usual fashion he said no. This is something we will definitely be working on. He can either ride or watch.... I think he'll end up trying it and loving it!!!! These Karts are gas powered and they go up to 45 miles an hour!!!! It seems a whole lot faster when you're on it.... You get to do almost 20 laps and if you're quick, each lap should only take like 30 seconds!!!! It's so much fun!!! My coworker Christi has been coming with me too and we love to battle it out on the road!!! Last race she was trying to pass me the whole time bumping my back end at every turn, but I wouldn't let her pass me!!! That is, until one of the other guys, did a pick maneuver on me and made me spin... All in fun!!!! We had a great time. So thats where I'll be every Wednesday!!!
I'm starting to get real excited for my Mexico mission trip. It's about two weeks away!!! Already!!! I have a few little projects planned that I want to get together before I go. I am going to go through Noah's old clothes and take them with me to give away over there. I also want to go the the 99 cent store and buy a bunch of little toys and things that I can give the kids out there. They were all so amazing and sweet last year. I want them to know how they touched me. I'm going to develop some of the pictures I took of the kids from last year and give them to them in cute frames.... And last but not least I have a master copy of every ones pics from last year, so I want to throw together a scrapbook that I can give to the doctor over there that helps us coordinate surgeries and the use of the operating room in the hospital. So I have a lot planned!!!! I hope to get most of it done quickly.... Last year there were about 20 of us total that went down there. This year there will be about 50 of us going.... Did I mention we will be sharing one bathroom and shower????? Hahahahah!!! Too funny!!! I don't expect to take any warm showers the whole trip!!!! Last year I only had one warm shower and the rest were oh so COLD!!!! No matter what I know it will be a great trip!!!!!
