That's momsense....

No I didn't mispell that.. It is momsense... This is a video of a funny comedian -Anita Renfroe, doing her own lyrics to the William Tell Overture... It's hilarious!!!! I think there is a little bit of every mom in the world in her lyrics!!! Here is the link:

Just one more day until the weekend...

Friday night we are having movie night at our place... Mark and I never saw Knocked Up in the theater, so we are having Kimmy over and we're going to make popcorn and watch it!! Should be fun!!! I love homemade popcorn!!!!!

Saturday is work as usual and call that night till 11.... Mark will be away all day helping Tim and Melissa move, and I think Noah will be with his cousins playing all day and then at night I think he will be going to another concert with my little sister... He went to one the night we went to The Bravery concert and loved it!!!! (Makes mom and dad SOOOO happy) So this time he'll be going to the Glass House in Pomona to see Take the Crown!!! As for my night, Kimmy wants to go to Rockabilly night at Raxx brewery in Riverside... so maybe we'll end up there... at least it's on my way to the hospital if I get called in (I will have saved like 10 minutes on the drive!!) Oh well, we'll see how things go...

Worse case scenario, I sit at home and get my Christmas crafts and baking lists going.... My friend Frankie and I have decided to do baked goods and crafts for a lot of the people we know (that we usually buy generic gifts for), so we are starting to get our lists together and will be having a "cookie exchange" / craft night probably in December to share our goodies and make some great gifts for people! I can't wait... We talk cookies and crafts everyday at work now!!! Too funny!!!

OK, well it's time to go home... I think I'll take Noah to the library today and we can get some good books!!! Have a great night everyone.... And Mel, if you actually have time to get on here and read blogs today... I hope you guys have a really smooth move this weekend.... Good luck... I'm sure everything will be great!!!

Back to the land of the living...

Wow... It's been almost a week.... (bet you thought I was ignoring the blog....) Nope, just busy and sick... But as life usually goes... unless you're dead.. back to the land of the living!!!

The last time I wrote was on my anniversary... It was sooo sad.. I became sick that evening and we cancelled our reservations to the Melting Pot, Noah and I made pizza for dinner and then I just went to bed after that.. So not much celebrating going on this year.. Just trying to recover... So here's our anniversary pizza!!! (I was sick, so no pics of us!!!)

I started to break out with a nice itchy red rash on my neck and chest Wednesday (which I attribute to a recent high stress level), and then became snotty and sneezy and very lethargic... Just sick!!! UGH.. There's something I never need...The gift without a gift receipt!!! So Thursday I stumbled through work and asked for Friday off... I slept all of Friday until I had to pick up Noah from school... Then right back to bed.... It felt awful to tell Noah to stay away from me... but I just didn't want him to be sick like me... I think he understood that because he told me he just wanted me to feel better...(melt my heart!!!)

So then there's Saturday... Unfortunately there is no calling in sick to that job, so I went in... and of course, we were busy!!! (The week before we did nothing!!! I even slept there!!!) Thankfully the meds I was taking and all the sleep I got started to kick in and I felt better!!!! I'm so ready for my flu shot!!!! I think I get it next month... Can't wait! It's like candy for medical people... :)~

Soooo, since I felt better on Saturday... It was time to go out!!! Girls night!!!Kimmy and I headed over to The Vault for Marquis'(from Hobo Jazz) birthday bash!!! I made him some cupcakes as a gift because really, what do you get a hobo??? He is tooo funny!!! He got wasted in total Marquis fashion and ended up climbing onto the windows and then eventually just singing from the floor!!!! hahahaha!!! (This is what you missed out on during your visit Liz!!!) We closed the place up at 2am and headed home.... I always have the best time with my bf Kimmy!!! Love ya Chickie!!!! Can't wait till the next time... Maybe this weekend???? hahahahaha....

And then there's Sunday... We all piled in my moms car and headed out to Glendale for my cousin Rosas daughter Ellie's first birthday party... Rosa is my cousin from my dads side of the family... It was great to see my aunt uncle and cousins!!!! It's been a really long time!!!! It was awesome weather...Just a gorgeous day!!!! They picked a really cool park to have the party at... Lots of playground to play on and a great big pinata!!!! I found a cute grassy hill and decided to play photog with everyone... Here are all the pics..... I love taking pics outdoors!!! They come out so crisp and clear...

Terri and my two cousins....Rosa and Wendy....

Thats Rosa with her hubby Brent and little Ellie...

This is my favorite pic of Noah!!! He looks so innocent!!! But we all know better :)~

Noah and Brayden!!!!

The "not so little anymore" prince and the little princess!!!!

Other than all this (phew!!!!) We haven't been up to much.. Just hanging out at home and practicing Tae Kwon Do.... Work shouldn't be tooo hectic this week, and who knows on Saturday.... It's so hit or miss there.... I'm on call Saturday night... so I'll have to stay local...within 30 min. of Corona...

Right now I think we are just looking foward to October!!! (our cruise is next month and Halloween!!!) I LOVE Halloween!!! AND Knotts Scary Farm too!! OK, is September over yet??? Awww, just a few more days!!!

Well I better get to bed... We have a cut time of 7am tomorrow so I have to get there early... (oh those words are like bad words to me.....) ok...nighty night!!!

September 19 2007 -> Our 3 year wedding anniversary!

To think that three years ago today was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and I was in a limo on my way to Thatcher Manor where I was getting ready for my wedding.. It seems like such a long time ago!!! All the planning and hard work built up to this day!!! I was working at least 60 hours a week trying to save enough money to be able to buy everything I wanted for our wedding... It turned out exactly as I pictured it in my head. A perfect dream come true. Looking into Marks eyes that day and reciting our vows that we each had written made me feel so special and loved. Having Noah in the ceremony and presenting him with a family medallion melts my heart just thinking about it. Having all our closest family (family from Costa Rica) and friends share this special day with us was well worth every day of hard work...
So today on our anniversary, I reflect on our relationship and this overwhelming feeling of love and adoration takes over me. Mark is truly the most genuinely loving, caring, considerate, kind, and self-sacrificing man I have ever met. And he wanted to be my husband! How lucky am I???
When Mark and I first met, I was living with a friend that he worked with. I went to their work often to visit my friend for lunch. I met him there once but never thought that I would talk to him again.... Later, I ended up working at the same place with him and my friend. I saw him everyday at work...and just felt something different for him. I told my friend, "Valarie, he's the one!" She thought I was crazy for saying that... Like a 18 year old girl knows who she will be with for the rest of her life!!!! But I kept telling her that I really liked him and that he was the one for me.... I just started talking to him and being his friend...and eventually told him how much I liked him.... Soon after, we set up a date!!! I remember our first date.. We went to the Cheesecake Factory in Irvine and met up with his friend Michael... We had dinner with him and then left and were on our way home... I never wanted that feeling (or that night) to end. I think I was already in love then. We dated for a few months and got pregnant quickly.... We moved in together, had our wonderful son Noah and got married 4 years later... (you have to know Mark and I are rebels to the end!!!) We are not the most traditional or conventional people.... It's just our way. The only other thing to add to our story is that we've been living happily ever after since. Taking everyday as a gift, and enjoying it to the fullest.
I love my husband and how he makes me a better person. I love the way he loves me for me and doesn't want me to change my ways, even though others think I should. I love the way he understands me (or at least most of me :)~) I love the way he is strong yet oh so loving with Noah... He's a great father...
Well I think I've written a pretty boring novel for everyone else but I am grateful to have this outlet to write and think about how lucky I am. Have a great day everyone.

Saturday...

Hey everyone... Wow, it's Saturday morning and I've already been at work for almost 2 hours...(only 6 more to go!!!) Luckily there are no cases scheduled today so I can just relax and maybe even sleep a little bit since we got home so late last night. I thought to myself that I was just going to clock in and go straight to sleep, but my coworkers bought breakfast and we've been in the lounge just relaxing and talking for a while...

The Bravery concert last night was SOOOOOO great!!! I fall deeper in love with those guys every time I see them!!! They just have so much energy on stage!!! It was truly great!! We (my friend Veronica, and her son Joey rode with me, Mark drove straight from work) got to LA around 630pm and grabbed some food from the grocery store next to the Wiltern and took it with us while we sat in line waiting for the doors to open at 730.... Mark got there about 15 minutes before the doors opened.... Great timing!!! We went in and got in front right away.. There is a small pit section in front of the stage and they only let a certain amount of people (the first 100 or so in line get to go to the front) into that area with wristbands... So it was awesome!!! The first band was called The Growlers... They were pretty cool... A bit country, kind of like our favorite little local band Hobo Jazz... I think I was so anxious to see The Bravery that I hardly gave them my full attention.... The second band caught my attention.. Their name is The War Tapes... A little like She Wants Revenge and AFI... They were great!!!! Lots of energy, especially from the asian guitar player... He was great... Mark and I thought of our adopted asian brother Teddy when we saw him, who knows why??? They had a female guitarist that looked like she was being held hostage on stage... She looked absolutely miserable!! She didn't even sing! It's too bad, because she brought down the energy for the whole band... Other than her, they were awesome.. I'll definitely be on the lookout for their next show. And then, there is The Bravery... Ahhhhh... Every song was awesome... They played mine and Marks song "Bad Sun"... That made my night.... They were so amped up with energy.... The crowd wasn't too rowdy, except for this one really drunk girl that was trying to push herself up front... She kept pushing on my friends back (my friend is like 5'2", and barely 100 pounds!) and finally she gave my friend one big push and I had it, I just turned around and pushed her into her man and almost on the floor!!! I think her man finally got the hint that they weren't getting in front of us, so they moved on.... Back to the Bravery... They did all their big songs like Honest Mistake, Fearless, Tyrant, Time Won't Let Me Go, Swollen Summer, Bad Sun, Above and Below... Just to name a few. So for $25 a ticket, I think I got more than my moneys worth!!!! What a great feeling!!! I'll post pictures later.. right now I gotta get back to catching up on my sleep!!!!

Ugh... morning time...

It's 730 in the morning and I'm at work waiting for my surgeon to stroll in the door.. Ugh, I feel tired today!!! I slept right through my alarm clock and got an extra hour of sleep (which was SOOOO nice) but made my morning that much more in a hurry!!! Oh well, at least my first case of the day is only liposuction, so I'll be able to autopilot through that one... I should be awake by the second case. Got my coffee, I'll be OK!!!
Tomorrow is "The Bravery" in concert at the Wiltern in LA!!! I can't wait for this show. I just love their music... We have pit tickets for this show. It will be Mark, myself, my friend Veronica, and her son Joey. I just love this band... Mark says they speak to me...I think they do... I find a lot of inspiration and strength through lyrics of songs... Sometimes a song just sings what is in my heart and in my mind and puts me at ease! Or when I'm angry, they understand where I am... I love that about music.. There is a song for everything I feel, and it makes me feel better. Especially when I sing along to it really REALLY loud.. I will try to get my camera in as usual, because we should be pretty close to if not right in front. The pics I got when we saw She Wants Revenge at the Wiltern were awesome, right up Adams nose... hahahaha!! Should be a good time.
Can you believe half of September is over already??? Wow... life is really just flying by... Noah got his third stripe last night on his yellow belt. Now he waits until October 3rd for his testing... He will be a camouflage belt next and begin sparring. I can't wait!!!
Next Wednesday is Marks and my 3 year wedding anniversary! It sounds like so few years, but we've been together 8 1/2 years already. I just love that man of mine!!! He is truly a special person!!! (You have to be special to put up with me!!!) haha!! I am so glad I found him, I'll never let go of him or that feeling that he gives me!
Well, I better go get a refill on my coffee, this surgeon is still not here! We were supposed to start 15 minutes ago!!!

September 11th

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I remember I was at work and had just taken my break and walked into the lounge when the first plane had hit. I had such a sinking feeling of fear in my stomach when I saw the video. I was scared. Then the second plane hit. I held back my tears and went back in to the OR. I told the crew what I had just seen and we were all silent. By the time we got done with our case, we all went into the lounge and watched the news for a bit. After we heard the update on all the planes and the plan behind it, I was in shock that something like this could happen.
This is such a day of infamy to this country, and especially to the younger kids who weren't alive or don't remember any of the other wars in this country. The day our sense of security was shaken so strongly by people who are out of their minds! The day that so many people died, and this country showed such an enormous amount of courage and strength to help save others that they would never know and never meet. Every time I think about all those people, I remember visiting ground zero, and feeling that overwhelming sadness and loss, especially when we saw the paintings and pictures some of the children drew about their family members, I just couldn't hold back the tears... It was so sad! Life changing! Today I remember all those people that died that day, and all those LUCKY and BRAVE people that risked their lives to save as many others as they could. You will always be remembered. and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The truth about women.

Men kick friendship around like a football, but it doesn't seem to crack. Women treat it like glass and it goes to pieces.
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Wow... I just found this quote and it jumped out at me about how true it is.... Sad, but true! It is just so much harder for women to get along with each other than it is for men.
Personally, I am making a conscious effort to be easier to get a long with. I know I can be abrasive and matter-of-fact.... But that's just the way I am, and have always been. I don't want to change the me that I am (because I love me!), I just want to let the guard down a bit... and be more open... So that is what I am working on with myself... That's my me-project! Funny, I know...
OK it's time for me to get out of work and start the to-do list... Pick up Noah, start dinner, take him to Tae Kwon Do, finish dinner, do some laundry, do some homework, do some dishes, get ready for tomorrow, go to bed!!! OK.... off I go!

Lazy Sunday....

Well, my trip to Glen Ivy today was rescheduled... I decided to stay home with Noah so Mark could go hang out with the guys and watch football.... I'll go to Glen Ivy some other time...I know it means a lot to Mark to be able to go watch football with people that are into it as much as he is... I hope he has a great time...I suggested they go to Hooters since the ESPN Zone was charging $10 an hour to sit there and watch the games. We'll see where they ended up!
So Noah and I are having a lazy Sunday other than grocery shopping and maybe a lunch date at one of his fav places Red Robin.... Mommy son time...can't beat that!
Work was great yesterday... We did 7 cases by 1pm!!!! That's great time for 7 cases... Mostly urology but there was one belly case with a surgeon dear to my heart...Dr Moon Lee!!! He's like my poppa!!! He even bought me lunch after our case!!! I just adore him... He's so sweet... I think those surgeons there are getting spoiled on Saturdays because more and more of them are scheduling their cases on the weekend instead of during the week.. We move very fast and work hard as a team!!!! One doc brought us bagels for breakfast, the anesthesiologist bought pizza for lunch!!! (and my lunch from Dr. Lee) I love Saturdays at work!!! Too much fun!
Well, I'm off to the grocery store.... and to have lunch. Have a great Sunday!!!!

TGIF!!!

TGIF!!! Well to a certain extent... I do work tomorrow but I'm still glad that it's the weekend!!! This week has been filled with non-stop to-do lists, practices and appointments for Noah and myself... So needless to say I'm tired!!! So glad to be done with this week... At least the weather is finally breaking and cooling down a bit.. We really got through some scorchers at 112 degrees!!! Way hot...That's Vegas hot.... If I don't get to hang out at a cool casino, then it can't be that hot around here!!! hahahaha!!
Work has been getting busier.. and that is a great thing... The end of summer is always a slow season for surgery... All the kids are going back to school, parents are stressed, gotta spend money on clothes and supplies...Who wants to add surgery to that list??? It's always a little scary when you look at the OR schedule and only see a few cases on there... And as much fun as it is to hang out on the computer, go out to loooong lunches and watch movies at work...it's always better to have job security in the means of surgeries to do and people to help...
Noah has been practicing his Tae Kwon Do religiously and I expect he will get his third stripe on his yellow belt this coming Monday! Next will be his belt test (which I think will be in the beginning of October) Then he will advance as a camouflage belt..and begin to spar!!! I can't wait for this!!! His class dates might even change to Tues. and Thurs. I am so happy my little man loves this! It has really made his personality and attitude change in the most positive way.
The other day when I was dropping him off at Kinder Care. I walked in the door and started signing him in...(as usual) He walked back to the door and opened it because he saw another mommy carrying her two babies and having a hard time getting in carrying everything she had.... She told him he was such a gentleman and how he had great manners!!!! I had such a proud mommy moment!!! I just looked at him and gave him a great big hug... and told him I was so proud of him!!!! Moments like these make me so grateful...and proud of myself too..That I had something to do with teaching someone else to be kind and caring to others!
Just positive reinforcement that Mark and I are doing the right things for our boy! He always helps my mom with errands and chores around her house, but this time it was for someone he didn't even know.... I love my little guy!!!!

Now, it's time for me to get some dinner ready and hang out with my boys for the rest of the night!!!! Tomorrow-work and Sunday-Glen Ivy!!!! woohooo!!!! Life is great!!! Have a great weekend everyone and be safe!!!!

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

It's only Tuesday????

Well, I guess that's what happens when you have a long weekend.... You expect half the week to be gone when you get back to work... Hmm.... back to the real world!!!
The good news about going back to work is that the administration figured out that we will be off from work starting December 21st to January 2nd!!! I love my surgery center!!! They are the most considerate docs!!! (We get paid for this time off and it doesn't come from our own paid time off bank, it's administrative pay!!!) So I'll have a whole week at home with Noah to bake and decorate and do other fun stuff during the holidays! I LOVE the holiday season!!!! (not the gifts, just the feeling of the season and being close to family) Gifts are overrated...

Well, our Family Values concert on Sunday was awesome!!! We ended up upgrading our tickets from sucky lawn tix to terrace seats...which aren't the greatest, but it's WAAAAYYYY better than lawn!!! Yay!!! I was really dreading those lawn tickets but I knew how much my hubby wanted to go, so I was willing to stick it out for him!!! The bands started to play around 2pm but we didn't get there until 530ish.... We were trying to miss some of the heat... It didn't work too well.. It was still pretty hot and the sun was beating down... But anyway, we got there in time to see Atreyu, Evanescence and Korn!!!! Mark and I had never really heard any of Atreyu's music (and now we know why..they sucked!) Evanescence on the other hand brought more energy than Korn!!! Amy Lee has such an amazing voice!!!! She's my hero!!! Korn rocked their set too.... Mark enjoyed every minute of it!!!! Here's a few pics....

What a great weekend... In the middle of all this heat and fun stuff... Mark and I remembered that a year ago this past weekend we were moving into our apt. that we are in... What a rough move that was... 2 stories down, and 3 stories up!!!! Phewww...I'm tired just thinking about it again!!!!

Well, I better get to bed..Tomorrow will be a long day... One big 10 hour case at work-this lady is getting a total overhaul! (face lift, eyelid surgery, fat injections, dermabrasion, tummy tuck, breast aug., lipo.), 2 tae kwon do classes for Noah..... Gotta squeeze homework and dinner for him somewhere in between there, and then come home and get ready for the next day!!! And this Saturday it's back to work over at the hospital. At least on Sunday I think I may actually get to Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa!!!! (thanks Frankie for the invite!!!) Just veg out and maybe hit the Grotto....I love that place!!! Nothing like a mud bath to make you feel clean!!! Hahahahaha!!!!

Till the next time!!!!! See ya!!!

Sunday, September 2, 2007

I guess I had some time to kill...

This morning I had nothing but time so I decided to freshen up the space here.... A new brighter page and some icon additions....

Yesterdays BBQ at Jeff and Brandies place was awesome... A great dinner and even a cake baked by Jeff himself!!! Good job Jeff!!!! How did you know we loved chocolate??? hahahaha!!! We watched Blades of Glory which was hilarious!!! and that was about it!!! Off we were back home to relax for the rest of the night....

Now it's time to get ready for our concert... Noah is off to Tita's house for date night with her... He loves being with my mom so much!!! I can't wait to see Evanescence and Korn too!!! Mark is too excited for Korn...Thats his fav band... Should be a good time... It will definitely be warm out there!!! Nothing we can't handle!!!

Ok, have a great day everyone!!!

An August Slideshow...

It's Labor Day Weekend!!!

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!!! Mine has been great... I got Friday off from work and was able to go to work with my wonderful hubby for a while.. Then I met up with Ann (a coworker of Marks wife) and we walked around the marketplace for a while and had lunch at a really great place called Taco Rosa.. What a beautiful restaurant.. I love their style... and their food was awesome too!!
From there we went back to the office and waited for everyone to close up shop because they were taking an office trip to the movies to see "Balls of Fury".... (The story behind this special trip is that they play ping pong at work almost everyday during breaks and lunches....So it was only right to see the movie together)
This office is too funny!!! So Ann and I joined the crew and saw this funny little movie!! We all went in expecting nothing and were pleasantly surprised by the movie actually being kind of funny!!!! I think the funniest part was hearing them giggle when something reminded them of each other!!! Good times!!!

Today is going to be relaxing... We're headed to the pool and then later we are going to a BBQ at Jeff's place (Marks big brother)... I heard he got a new BBQ he wants to show off!!! :)~ Yum Yum!!!

And tomorrow is The Family Values Tour... We get to see Korn and Evanescence... There are tons of other bands playing but we're just going to get there late and see those two that we actually like!! As usual I will sneak my camera in and get some shots of the action!! I love my little camera but I'm already looking for another one... I mean it has already been over a year that I've had this one... I must be slacking because they usually only last about a year!! hahahahaa!! We'll see...

Well thanks for stopping by and reading.... Even those of you that end up commenting me through emails or myspace!! And for those of you that comment me in person... MUAH!!! Tons of love!! You funny folks..I understand why.. Thanks!!! Have a great weekend.... and be safe!!!
